"THE TRAITS THAT MAKE A PERSON COACHABLE INCLUDE HONESTY AND HUMILITY, THE WILLINGNESS TO PERSEVERE AND WORK HARD, AND A CONSTANT OPENNESS TO LEARNING." - Eric Schmidt and Jonathan Rosenberg, The Trillion Dollar Coach
You're already successful. Why work with a coach?
Coaching can help you have a much higher chance of accomplishing your goals, and my clients generally have more enjoyment of their lives overall in the process. You would never see an athlete reaching for the upper levels of their game without at least one coach. The same goes for business. Coaching is great in a crisis, and fantastic for creating remarkable outcomes.
Coaching helped me move beyond many of my limited beliefs and improved my performance across my life and business. That's why I love to coach - it's my passion to help others discover the next level. And now it helps me create my life and business at a high level.
When to get a coach?
First of all, if you have any degree of "imposter syndrome," I'd go find a coach. This is not necessary, and it's likely holding you back. It's an obvious symptom of a belief that could be improved through coaching. Get coached. The world needs you playing full out.
Many of the leaders I work with are already accomplished in their careers, or have seen a good deal of traction with their businesses. However, at a certain point, like I did, they feel like something is missing. They realize that they're often alone and don't really have a dedicated sounding board without a biased agenda, or constantly unsatisfied.
This can lead to burnout, deterioration of relationships, missed opportunities, or worse - stress and failure. It's better to get a coach before you're in trouble, but don't let that dismay you - sometimes we need a wake up call before we are ready to ask for help. Just like in sports, coaching is both great in a crisis, but also an excellent way to make long-term incremental progress or sometimes bigger jumps in performance.
The results of my coaching?
Jobs have been saved and created. Sales quotas met for the first time. Hearts changed. Marriages improved. Drama reduced. Innovation unlocked. Employee performance improved. Executive teams work together more effectively. Peace of mind experienced. Delegation mastered. Stress reduced. Cultures improved. And many other graceful transformations. What to look for in a coach? A great coach creates a sacred space where anything in the way of progress can be explored and moved past. A great coach will look to bring out the part of yourself you've hidden or held back. This is an incredible process, but integrity and trust are key for a successful coaching partnership. You want to find someone who will listen deeply to you, but not buy into your stories that are keeping you stuck.
The best coaches get coached and constantly improve their own game. I perpetually invest in my own growth and education by working with at least one mentor or coach myself.
How Coachable are You?
If this type of honest partnership appeals to you, here are some of the common traits I have found to be really helpful in my clients who have gotten the most out of working together.
You don't have to be perfect, of course, but the following qualities should resonate as ways of being you already embody to a degree, or would like to improve, for us to develop a super-productive relationship:
Process to work with me: Before we formally work together, I require my clients to read this book: How to Get the Most Out of Coaching, by my current mentor and masterful executive coach, Karen Davis. I wish I had this book before starting my journey of being coached, and will help you prep yourself to get the most leverage from your investment in coaching.
I can only go deep with a limited number of clients at a time, so you and I will likely do a trial period or an accelerator retreat to make sure we have great chemistry before we jump into working together for a year or more. I will be looking for your commitment to change, and how deeply you desire growth for yourself. This devotion to yourself can help you to ultimately create a healthier ecosystem for the projects and people you care about because you will show up more balanced and responsive instead of reactive.
How my clients show up: In service of that vision, my clients agree to be punctual and action-oriented between weekly sessions, follow up on what they say, do the homework we agree to, and never cancel or reschedule sessions last-minute unless it's a true emergency. We communicate honestly and create clean agreements about how we work together. Clients become more reliable in their lives, both to themselves and others, and in more control of their time instead of running frantically and constantly being stressed. They create a more peaceful environment for their families and teams in the process.
We will show up together consistently in a balanced way, and we will have honest conversations about everything and anything that you need to clear. It's not therapy, or trying to fix you or the past, it's amplifying your talent and using the past and present experience to intentionally create a more exciting or enjoyable life. We build momentum. We get really creative together. It's an amazing journey.
Why I encourage Natural Vision Accelerator retreats: In addition to regular video calls, we might even do a magical and transformational retreat in nature if you want to go really deep and shift something quickly. I live in a peaceful, quaint and traditional Black Forest village in Germany surrounded by mountains, elves, and endless forest trails. I also lead occasional retreats and programs in Colorado. I also create custom outdoor adventures, travel experiences and team workshops combination with coaching. I work with people from all over the world.
Are you ready to commit to your growth? To receive the most out of your investment in yourself, your devotion to the coaching process naturally becomes one of the highest priorities in your world. You will likely see it is a direct investment in your self, and an investment in learning to bring your best self forward in all circumstances. As a result of who you are being, visible changes start to naturally occur in the way you show up, and the outcomes you then create in your life, relationships and business. All boats rise.
If the tone of this call to adventure appeals to you, then let's start a conversation. I also offer group programs if you're looking for support, but aren't ready for the commitment of 1:1 coaching.
I got more from one hour of coaching with Justin than I did from a 9 week coaching program.
In February of 2022, I was days away from closing my business. Gratefully, my former client Justin happened to reach out to catch up. I shared what was going on, and he asked if he could coach me.
In just one conversation, his work changed my conscious (and I’m even convinced my subconscious) thought processes! His approach is intuitive, yet based on great business knowledge and experience. It was incredible to experience in real time.
That moment IS the pivot point. I rebuilt my business to a projected 100k+ revenue, am launching my new podcast today, on schedule to publish my book January 1, and so much more.
I can’t thank Justin enough for his heartfelt offer and the profound change it’s had on my life.
My experience working with Justin was incredibly impactful and our work together led to tremendous personal growth. Our first coaching engagement was for a few months where I learned the basic principles of Justin’s methodology. I then committed to a longer-term coaching agreement where the real work began. Once we were able to dig in, Justin acted as my guide leading me to my own self-realization. My biggest takeaway was that his process enabled me to find answers on my own. Working together for a longer period also allowed us to set bigger stretch goals that seemed unattainable at the outset and provided an opportunity to tackle all the issues that inevitably come up over the longer timeline. When we concluded, after an inspiring nature-based retreat, I felt I had made lasting changes that were only possible because Justin pushed me to find the answers under my own power.
In a simple conversation with Justin he was able to shine a clear light on my core motivations, and help me to become increasingly aware of them. He listened carefully, and guided me to realize a simple, powerful insight into what drives and motivates me. Justin then helped me to see that in fact, I was meeting this need -- on a daily basis, but telling myself a story that I was lacking something. This enabled me to re-frame much of my day at work and at home, which created a profound shift, and delivered a deepening sense of calm. From this more relaxed mindset, I was able to approach my commitments with greater ease, feel more centered, and connect with new opportunities that had been literally sitting right in front of me. I hired Justin for a long-term engagement after this insight, and he helped me navigate a perfect storm both personally and professionally.
I began working with Justin at a transformative point in my life and career, as I was working on launching a new consulting business and balancing life with a new baby. Through our coaching sessions, I gained a deeper understanding into how our mind works, which has been transformative in every aspect of my life. This has allowed me to shift my perspective and explore life and business with a peaceful, curiosity that has resulted in more clarity and wisdom. I have since continued to work with Justin for several years, navigating several career transitions, and growing as a leader. For those looking for practical applications, I have been able to make business decisions more confidently, work and prioritize more efficiently, deepen relationships, and create more space for the things that I enjoy in life. And my impact as a leader has deepened tremendously.
Working with Justin has been helpful and encouraging. It’s like counseling meets a present day Guru whom understands all the challenges for young entrepreneurs and business professionals. He has helped me rethink certain patterns and offers small tips along with challenging my thinking which has helped tremendously. Justin also knows much of this stuff first hand from other experts and his own experience in business, and has great supplemental material to support the mentoring sessions. The environment feels very safe and natural along with the ability to meet outside or go on a hike which is much better in my opinion for opening up and not feeling stuck in an office setting!”
I have worked with other coaches in the past, but what’s unique about Justin’s coaching approach is that he really focuses on my state of mind and helps me get really grounded and clear headed so that I can make the best decisions. Justin is developing a high performance executive from a place of relaxation - not pressure.
This new mindset of achieving through relaxation not pressure has also translated into how I set my team up for success.
Through dedicated study and practice, Justin has refined his innate and authentic ability to deeply listen, feel and interpret, then express his perspective with profoundly skilled insights. He's helped me better access a deeper sense of my self. From this grounded, spacious, ever-present and accessible state of mind, I find my actions are more intentional, impactful, and even fun. I can better reframe daunting challenges to feel like my valuable opportunities, and better recognize small understandings as my path toward wisdom. I find talking with Justin not only helpful, but also fascinating and a true joy. He helped me navigate a major career transition and some complex leadership dynamics.
Within 30 seconds of meeting Justin, one gets the sense that he cares deeply about you and wants to understand who you are, as a person. Immediately there’s a warm space of compassion created where a talented coach like Justin puts you at ease and his skillful listening leads to open conversation and a clear mind where whatever is really in your way can surface and insights into options flourish. In working with Justin, I have found a calm place from which to respond effectively to whatever troubles might come into my day. I highly recommend him for anyone looking for a fresh perspective on life.
Any leader looking to make significant progress in their lives and business will significantly benefit from working with Justin as a coach. Justin has lived the personal transition himself, bringing his clients an unbelievable level of authenticity and genuine care. He brings a new perspective and helps unlock incredible growth in a very short amount of time. I saw an immediate impact on my business as a leader, colleague, and growth driver.
I work with a handful of executive coaches at any given time. Justin is definitely one of the rising stars. He is an extremely gifted coach with many innate abilities, a quick learner, and a very prosperous coach.
I believe Justin has the potential to be one of the most sought-after executive coaches in Germany.
The combination of entrepreneurship and executive skills he brings to his coaching is unique. Besides his impressive professional accomplishments, he is kind, patient, and attentive to his clients and their needs. He has a brilliant strategic mind and a bias for action. He’s an absolute joy for me to coach!
Shift happens. A year ago I could not have told you what that means, much less what it feels like. As my executive coach, Justin has provided me with the space and understanding to learn to trust my own inner GPS across both personal and professional challenges. Through working with him I’ve been able to realize a significant impact in performance, communication, relationships and clarity of thinking. In addition to his experience he is a true pleasure to be around! Highly recommend him and will continue to utilize his expertise.
